Champions League T20 Team List 2013

Squads of the 12 teams to take part in the upcoming Champions League T20 2013 have been announced. The tournament is to be played in India from 17th September to 6th October. Four teams from the IPL, two teams from the Australian Big Bash League, two teams from South Africa’s Ram Slam T20 Challenge and one team from the Caribbean T20 will have direct entry in the CLT20 while two of the four teams from New Zealand, Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka will play a round robin league for qualification.
The four IPL teams that have made it to the CLT20 are the Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals and the Sunrisers Hyderabad (to play in the Qualifier ahead of the main tournament). Both Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid who have announced their IPL retirements have decided to play their last CLT20 tournament for the Mumbai Indians and the Rajasthan Royals respectively. Faisalabad Wolves, the qualifying team from Pakistan has also named its squad although its participation remains in doubt following heightened political tensions between India and Pakistan.
Like always the Champions League T20 has caused conflict of interest amongst the international players who take part in the IPL. This season a dozen such players have been asked to pick either their country based team or the IPL team. While 11 of them have chosen the IPL teams, only Kumar Sangakkara has agreed to play for the Kandurata Maroons ahead of Sunrisers Hyderabad. Thisara Perera is the only player who had to select from either a Big Bash League team or the IPL team. The Sri Lankan all-rounder gave preference to the Sunrisers Hyderabad ahead of Brisbane Heat.
